About Me

I write under the name Umm Abdillah — not to hide, but to keep the focus where it belongs.

I am a Muslim mother who reached a point where responsibility outpaced what effort alone could hold.

Trying to carry motherhood, faith, and responsibility without pause eventually led me to a place of exhaustion I could no longer push through.

By the mercy of Allah, I was brought to a halt.

I had to let go, step back, and allow myself the time needed to heal before attempting to lead again — as a mother, and as a believer. Through that process, my perspective was restored and clarity returned around what matters most.

Along the way, I was guided to learn deeply — both from Islamic sources and from attachment-based understandings of child development that align beautifully with the wisdom of our deen. Islam already holds the wisdom. Learning about attachment helped me recognise and understand how that wisdom unfolds in children’s development.

I am still learning. Still growing.

But I am no longer speaking from survival.

This space exists as an expression of gratitude to Allah — and as a gentle offering to Muslim mothers who may be managing more responsibility than can be sustained alone.

May Allah grant you benefit in what you read, deepen your understanding, steady your heart, and guide you in your motherhood with wisdom and mercy.

Ameen.
